Everything in one place

From the paper binder to digital documentation

Four building blocks for daily daycare life. Getting started is low-threshold: one group begins, everything else follows later.

Observations

Record development steps straight from a tablet or computer, sorted into areas such as social-emotional, motor skills or language.

Memories

Photos and special moments become memory pages for parents, ready as a PDF to print.

Child profiles

All information about a child in one clear view: group, progress, observations, measures and notes.

Export

Prepare documentation so development areas, observations and measures remain easy to follow.

THIS IS WHAT DOKITA LOOKS LIKE

How you work with dokita

From the child profile through the observation to the finished print-out. The screens come from our demo daycare Mondwiese.

1 CHILD PROFILES

Every child at a glance

Group, age, attendance days and settling-in period are all in one overview. One tap opens the profile with every observation and memory for that child.

2 OBSERVATIONS

Record once, print whenever you need it

Developmental steps are recorded across ten areas, with an assessment, photos and actions. For the parent meeting or the QualiKita audit this becomes a finished A4 sheet, sorted by developmental area.

Ten developmental areas
Actions with history and comments
A4 print-out, your filters are kept
3 MEMORIES

Write it down, add photos, done

You write the moment down the way you would tell it to the parents and add up to four photos. dokita turns that into the memory page with a photo collage and your own words, ready to print on A4.

The person behind dokita

«Built from daily life in a daycare»

I am Sarah Stauffer, mother of two and founder of dokita. When my son was settling in at the Spielhuus Schnäggli daycare in St. Gallen, I was there often and got a rare look at daily life in a daycare and at the many tasks the carers at Schnäggli take on every day. Documenting the children’s development and holding on to their memories are exactly the tasks that stay invisible to us parents. Much of it is done by hand, often in the evening once the children have gone home. Until then I only knew the daycare from a parent’s point of view, but now I saw how much work goes into every child’s binder, the one we parents are so happy to hold when our child leaves. And that work matters enormously. It supports our children’s development and gives us a valuable view of what they experience over their years in the daycare.

I have more than ten years of experience in software development, including in education. Together with the management of Spielhuus Schnäggli I built dokita and kept adjusting it until a version really worked in daily life. Today the whole Schnäggli team uses dokita to document more than 50 children across three groups, from settling in to leaving. The team saves up to 80 percent of its documentation time.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

If something is missing, drop me a line. I am happy to add to the list.

Do we need new devices?

No. dokita runs in the browser: on the tablet in the group and on the desktop in the office. No installation, no app store approval, no IT department needed.

Do the carers have to type everything?

No. dokita works with your tablet’s dictation feature. At Schnäggli the carers speak their observations instead of typing them. That saves extra time and fits the working day better.

Who sees what in the team?

Carers see the children in the groups assigned to them, the management sees all of them. Every entry shows who recorded it. It can be edited or deleted by its author or by the management.

Where is our data and who has access to it?

Your data is stored in Switzerland. Every daycare sees only its own data, strictly separated from all others. I am the sole technical operator of dokita. I only access data when needed, and only for support. I provide a data processing agreement (AVV) for your daycare. The data belongs to your daycare and you can export it at any time.

Does dokita meet the QualiKita standard?

Observations and portfolios in dokita follow the QualiKita standard. dokita was built in a daycare that is QualiKita certified and uses dokita every day. Your own concept and your own templates remain the reference. dokita adapts to them.

How do we report requests and improvements?

Directly in dokita. Your team reports a request or a bug in a few clicks inside the app and it comes straight to me. That is how dokita grew at Schnäggli and how it keeps developing.

Can we try dokita first?

Yes. After the demo a pilot phase with your own team is possible. We discuss the terms together in that conversation.

What does dokita cost?

dokita costs a monthly amount per daycare, depending on its size. There are no hidden costs. I will show you the figure for your daycare in the demo conversation. The subscription can be cancelled monthly.

Prefer to walk through the app together?

On a short call we walk through dokita together on screen: how an observation is created and how it becomes a memory page for the parents. Around 30 minutes, no preparation needed. If you would rather click around on your own, use the demo access above.

Or just write to us

If booking straight into a calendar feels too binding: tell us briefly who you are and how you document today. We will come back with two or three time slots.
